We’ve rounded up all the info you need to make your journey a stress-free experience. Follow our insider tips and you’ll be zooming through airport security and exploring Newcastle before you know it.What to pack in your hand luggage:
- It’s simple — first, pack your passport, travel documents, credit cards and medications. Next, you’ll want some entertainment to while away the time. A thrilling novel and a laptop crammed with your favourite shows are always good options. If you intend to take a short nap, a quality neck pillow and a pair of earplugs will also come in handy. Finally, squeeze in a few toiletry items so you’ll hop off the plane feeling fresh as a daisy.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- Put all your full-sized bottles of shampoo and hair gel in your checked baggage. Any liquids or gels in your carry-on bag larger than 3null4 ounces (100 milliliters) won’t be allowed on. Sharp objects, like your precious Swiss Army knife, and dangerous products which are flammable or explosive, such as aerosols and gasoline, are also prohibited.
What to wear on a flight:
- The narrow aisles of a plane are not the place for a fashion parade. Wear comfortable clothes and don’t forget to bring a cardigan as it can get chilly in the cabin on long-haul flights. Closed-toed, flat shoes are also recommended.
- The serious condition called deep vein thrombosis (DVT) can pose a risk on long-haul flights. It results from blood clotting due to poor circulation. Walking up and down the aisle and doing leg and foot exercises while seated is a great way to prevent this occurring. Wearing a good pair of compression tights or socks is also a wise idea.
