Wherever you're jetting in from, flying can be a pleasant experience if you've planned ahead. We've made a list of handy travel tips that will get your Obertraun escape started on the right note. What to pack in your hand luggage:
- First and foremost, put in your passport, travel documents, cash and medications. Next, you'll need some in-flight entertainment to while away the time. A thrilling novel and a laptop crammed with your favourite shows are always good options. If you hope to catch forty winks, a quality neck pillow and some noise-cancelling headphones will also come in handy. Finally, leave some space for a few toiletry items to ensure you hop off the plane feeling fresh as a daisy.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- Check carefully that you don't have a pocket knife hiding in the bottom of your carry-on luggage. Other restricted items include flammable or explosive products, such as aerosol cans and bleach, and gels and liquids in containers larger than 3.4 ounces (100 millilitres).
What to wear on a flight:
- Your aim is to feel as comfortable as you can. Go for flat, closed-toe shoes, dress in loose, natural fibers and remember to take a jacket in case it gets cold in the cabin.
- Most travellers have heard about deep vein thrombosis (DVT), a blood clot condition caused by prolonged periods of inactivity. To minimize your risk on board, stay hydrated, consider wearing compression socks or tights and keep your feet and legs moving.
