We've rounded up all the info you need to make your flight a stress-free experience. Follow our tips and you'll be breezing through the airport and discovering Pompei before you know it. What to pack in your hand luggage:
- Travelling on a plane can be a cruisy experience if you pack the right gear. Firstly, you'll need basic toiletries, such as a toothbrush and lip balm, a fresh set of clothes and a good book. Secondly, leave space in your carry-on bag for your electronic devices, chargers, medications and maybe a cosy neck pillow as well. Lastly, remember to take your passport, travel docs and your bank cards.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- Squeeze all your full-sized bottles of shampoo and hairspray in your checked baggage. Any gels or liquids in your carry-on bag larger than 3.4 ounces (100 millilitres) won't be allowed on. Sharp or pointed objects, like your precious pocket knife, and dangerous goods which are explosive or flammable, such as aerosols and gasoline, are also banned.
What to wear on a flight:
- Your aim here is to be as comfortable as you can. Choose flat, closed-toe shoes, dress in loose, breathable clothing and don't forget to bring a jacket in case you get cold in the cabin.
- You're probably aware of deep vein thrombosis (DVT), a blood clotting condition caused by long periods of inactivity. To lower your risk on board, drink lots of water, consider wearing compression socks and do gentle foot and leg exercises in your seat.
