Depending on where you're coming from, your trip to Rome could be no sweat at all or it could go on forever. We've pulled together some handy tips that will help you start your next great adventure on a positive note. What to pack in your hand luggage:
- Flying can be a great experience if you bring the right stuff. Firstly, you'll want a few basic toiletry items, such as deodorant, toothpaste and a toothbrush, a spare set of clothes and a few magazines. Secondly, find a spot in your hand luggage for your mobile phone, a charger, your medications and maybe a cosy neck pillow as well. Last, but definitely not least, don't forget to bring your passport, travel documents and some money.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- Squeeze all your full-sized bottles of shampoo and hairspray in your checked baggage. Any gels or liquids in your carry-on bag larger than 3.4 ounces (100 millilitres) will be confiscated by security. Sharp or pointed objects, like your trusty Swiss Army knife, and dangerous products which are flammable or explosive, such as aerosol cans, flares and fireworks, are also restricted.
What to wear on a flight:
- Comfort should be your highest priority when deciding what to wear on board. Loose, breathable clothing is a smart choice, as are enclosed shoes like sneakers.
- Most travellers have heard about deep vein thrombosis (DVT), a blood clot condition caused by prolonged periods of inactivity. To lessen your risk on board, stay hydrated, consider wearing compression socks and keep your legs and feet moving.
