Wherever you're jetting in from, flying can be a seamless experience if you're prepared. We've compiled a list of handy tips that will get your Rye escape started on the right foot. What to pack in your hand luggage:
- First and foremost, pack in your passport, travel documents, cash and medications. Next, you'll want some extra in-flight entertainment to help pass the time. A juicy book and a tablet crammed with your favourite shows are some terrific options. If you intend to catch up on some sleep, a neck pillow and some earplugs will also come in handy. Finally, find room for a toothbrush and some cleansing wipes to ensure you step off the plane feeling fresh and ready to go.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- Put all your full-sized bottles of shampoo and conditioner in your checked luggage. Any gels or liquids in your carry-on bag larger than 3.4 ounces (100 millilitres) will be confiscated by authorities. Pointed or sharp objects, like your precious pocket knife, and dangerous goods which are flammable or explosive, such as aerosol cans, flares and strong acids, are also not allowed.
What to wear on a flight:
- You'll want to choose comfort over style. Prepare for changes in cabin temperature by donning layers, and pick easy-to-remove shoes like slip-ons.
- Most of us have heard about deep vein thrombosis (DVT), a blood clot condition caused by long periods of sitting. To lessen your risk on board, drink lots of water, consider wearing compression tights or socks and keep your legs and feet moving.
