If you're poorly prepared, airports and flying can be tough. But don't hit the panic button just yet. Follow these useful tips for a worry-free start to your time in Salento. What to pack in your hand luggage:
- First and foremost, pack your passport, travel documents, credit cards and vital medications. Next, you'll need some extra in-flight entertainment to while away the hours. A juicy book and a tablet crammed with your favourite shows are some fantastic options. If you intend to take a quick nap, a quality neck pillow and a pair of noise-cancelling headphones will also be useful. Finally, leave some space for a toothbrush and some cleansing wipes so you'll hop off the plane looking and feeling fresh.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- While the list of restricted items can differ between air carriers, the general rule of thumb is nothing sharp, flammable or explosive. This includes things like screwdrivers, knives, fireworks and fuel. Sports equipment like hockey sticks, and items that could harm other people, such as pepper spray and guns, aren't allowed in the cabin either.
What to wear on a flight:
- Your priority is to feel as comfortable as you can. Go for a pair of slip-on shoes, dress in loose, natural fibers and remember to take a sweater in case you get cold in the cabin.
- Deep vein thrombosis (DVT), a blood clotting condition caused by extended periods of inactivity, can be a risk on long-haul flights. Walk around the cabin and give your legs a stretch or do some gentle exercises in your seat to promote better circulation.
