If you're not prepared, air travel can be overwhelming. But there's no need to hit the panic button just yet. Follow these useful tips for a stress-free start to your time in Salinas. What to pack in your hand luggage:
- The secret to having an awesome travel experience is to plan ahead. Start with the essentials: passport, travel docs, bank cards and vital medications. Next, take on board items that'll help while away those hours, like your laptop or a thrilling book. You'll also want to pack your chargers, a quality neck pillow and a pair of headphones. Finally, be sure to pop in toiletries like a toothbrush, cleansing wipes and a fresh change of clothes.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- Squeeze all your full-sized bottles of shampoo and conditioner in your checked baggage. Any liquids in your carry-on suitcase larger than 3null4 ounces (100 milliliters) will be confiscated by authorities. Sharp objects, like your pocket knife, and dangerous products which are explosive or flammable, such as flares, bleaching agents and matches, are also not allowed.
What to wear on a flight:
- The aisles of an aircraft are no fashion runway. Layer yourself up with comfortable clothes and don't forget to bring a sweater as it tends to get cool inside the cabin on long-haul flights. Slightly roomy, flat shoes are always a good idea too.
- Unfortunately, one risk of long-haul flights is developing DVT (deep vein thrombosis), a blood clot condition caused by extended periods of inactivity. To prevent this, make the most of every opportunity to walk around the cabin and stretch your legs. Compression socks and tights are also a great idea to help minimize this risk.
