Wherever you're coming from, flying can be an enjoyable experience if you've prepared well enough. We've put together a list of handy hints that will get your Shama holiday started on the right foot. What to pack in your hand luggage:
- Travelling on a plane can be a stress-free experience if you've got all the right things. First things first, you'll need toiletry items, such as deodorant and a toothbrush, a spare pair of socks and a good book. Secondly, find room in your bag for your electronic devices, chargers, any daily medications and perhaps a proper neck pillow too. Lastly, and most importantly, remember to bring your passport, travel documents and some money.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- Put all your full-sized bottles of hair gel and hairspray in your checked luggage. Any gels or liquids in your carry-on bag larger than 3.4 ounces (100 millilitres) will be confiscated by security. Pointed or sharp objects, like a Swiss Army knife, and dangerous products which are flammable or explosive, such as spray paint, flares and matches, are also banned.
What to wear on a flight:
- The aisles of a plane aren't the place for a fashion parade. Don comfortable layers and opt for shoes that are roomy, flat and easy to slip on and off.
- Most of us have heard about deep vein thrombosis (DVT), a blood clotting condition caused by long periods of inactivity. To reduce your risk on board, stay hydrated, consider wearing compression tights or socks and keep your feet and legs moving.
