We've pulled together all the info you need to make your flight as stress-free as possible. Follow our tips and you'll be hightailing it through the airport and having a ball in Shannon in no time at all. What to pack in your hand luggage:
- A plane trip can be a comfortable experience if you take the right gear. First things first, you'll need basic toiletries, such as a toothbrush and hairbrush, a fresh change of clothes and a good novel. Next, leave space in your bag for your phone, tablet and chargers, any vital medications and maybe a neck pillow too. Lastly, and most importantly, remember to bring your passport, travel documents and some money.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- Leave all your full-sized bottles of shampoo and hairspray in your checked luggage. Any liquids or gels in your carry-on suitcase larger than 3.4 ounces (100 millilitres) will be confiscated by authorities. Pointed or sharp objects, like your treasured pocket knife, and dangerous goods which are explosive or flammable, such as flares, bleaching agents and poisons, are also not allowed.
What to wear on a flight:
- Your top priority is to be as comfortable as possible. Choose a pair of slip-on shoes, dress in loose, natural-fibre clothing and remember to bring a pullover in case it gets chilly in the cabin.
- You've probably heard about deep vein thrombosis (DVT), a blood clot condition caused by long periods of inactivity. To minimize your risk on board, stay hydrated, consider wearing compression socks and move your legs and feet often.
