We've rounded up all the info you need to make your journey a pleasant experience. Follow our insider tips and you'll be zooming through the airport and having a ball in Siloah before you know it. What to pack in your hand luggage:
- First, put in your passport, travel documents, cash and daily medications. Next, you'll need some extra in-flight entertainment to while away the hours. A juicy novel and a tablet crammed with your favourite movies are some wonderful options. If you plan to catch more than just forty winks, a comfy neck pillow and a pair of noise-cancelling headphones will also be useful. Finally, leave some space for a toothbrush and some facial wipes so you'll arrive at your destination feeling fresh as a daisy.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- Squeeze all your full-sized bottles of shampoo and conditioner in your checked luggage. Any liquids or gels in your carry-on bag larger than 3.4 ounces (100 millilitres) will be confiscated by security. Pointed or sharp objects, like your trusty Swiss Army knife, and dangerous products which are flammable or explosive, such as aerosol cans, spray paint and strong acids, are also restricted.
What to wear on a flight:
- You'll want to go for comfort over style. Prepare for changes in cabin temperature by donning layers, and opt for slightly roomy, flat shoes like sneakers.
- Deep vein thrombosis (DVT) can pose a risk on long-distance flights. It's the result of blood clots forming due to inactivity and poor circulation, so do some gentle leg and foot exercises in your seat and consider wearing compression socks or tights.
