Wherever you're coming from, flying can be a pleasurable experience if you're well organised. We've compiled a list of essential travel tips that will get your Stoos escape started on the right foot. What to pack in your hand luggage:
- A plane ride can be a pleasure if you bring the right things. Firstly, you'll want a few basic toiletry items, such as deodorant and a toothbrush, a spare pair of socks and a few magazines. Secondly, find a spot in your hand luggage for your phone, tablet and chargers, medications and perhaps a blow-up neck pillow as well. Last, but definitely not least, remember to bring your passport, travel docs and your credit cards.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- Pack all your full-sized bottles of shampoo and hairspray in your checked luggage. Any liquids in your carry-on suitcase larger than 3.4 ounces (100 millilitres) will be confiscated. Pointed or sharp objects, like your precious Swiss Army knife, and dangerous goods which are explosive or flammable, such as spray paint, flares and gasoline, are also banned.
What to wear on a flight:
- The aisles of a plane aren't the place for a fashion parade. Dress in comfortable layers and opt for shoes that are enclosed, flat and easy to pull on and off.
- Caused by lengthy periods of inactivity, deep vein thrombosis (DVT) is a blood clot condition that can affect some passengers during long-distance flights. Reduce the risks by drinking water, keeping your legs moving and wearing compression socks to help improve your circulation.
