No matter where you're coming from, flying can be a pleasant experience if you're well organised. We've made a list of handy tips and tricks that will get your Tubbercurry escape started on the right foot. What to pack in your hand luggage:
- It's simple — first, pack your passport, travel documents, cash and medications. Next, you'll need some in-flight entertainment to while away the hours. A juicy novel and a tablet crammed with your favourite shows are some terrific options. If you hope to take a short nap, a neck pillow and some noise-cancelling headphones will also be useful. Finally, make room for a few toiletry items so you'll hop off the plane feeling fresh and raring to go.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- Check carefully that you don't have a Swiss Army knife lurking in one of the zippers of your carry-on luggage. Other restricted items include explosive or flammable products, like aerosols and matches, and gels and liquids in containers larger than 3.4 ounces (100 millilitres).
What to wear on a flight:
- Choose comfort over style. Prepare for changes in temperature by wearing layers, and wear easy-to-remove shoes like sneakers.
- Deep vein thrombosis (DVT), a blood clot condition caused by extended periods of inactivity, can be a risk on long-haul flights. Walk around the cabin and give your legs a stretch or do some gentle exercises in your seat to improve your circulation.
