No matter where you're coming from, flying can be a pleasurable experience if you've prepared well. Check out these handy hints that will get your Tux escape started on the right foot. What to pack in your hand luggage:
- Travelling on a plane can be a comfortable experience if you bring the right stuff. First of all you'll need basic toiletry items, such as toothpaste, a toothbrush and some deodorant, a fresh change of clothes and a good book. Secondly, make room in your carry-on bag for your phone, tablet and chargers, any daily medications and perhaps a blow-up neck pillow as well. Last, but definitely not least, don't forget to take your passport, travel papers and some money.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- Pack all your full-sized bottles of shampoo and hair gel in your checked luggage. Any liquids or gels in your carry-on suitcase larger than 3.4 ounces (100 millilitres) won't be allowed on. Pointed or sharp objects, like your pocket knife, and dangerous products which are flammable or explosive, such as aerosols and poisons, are also restricted.
What to wear on a flight:
- Your main aim is to feel as comfortable as you can. Choose shoes that are easy to pull on and off, dress in loose, natural fibers and don't forget to bring a jacket in case it gets cold in the cabin.
- Deep vein thrombosis (DVT) is a risk on long-distance flights. It's the result of blood clots forming due to poor circulation, so do some gentle leg and foot exercises in your seat and consider wearing compression socks.
