Depending on where you're coming from, your flight to Utrecht could be no sweat at all or it could drag on forever. We've rounded up some handy tips that will help you start your next great adventure on a positive note. What to pack in your hand luggage:
- A plane ride can be a stress-free experience if you bring the right stuff. First things first, you'll need toiletry items, such as lip balm and hand cream, a fresh change of clothes and a few magazines. Secondly, leave space in your hand luggage for your phone and charger, any vital medications and perhaps a cosy neck pillow as well. Lastly, remember to take your passport, travel documents and your credit cards.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- Put all your full-sized bottles of hair gel and hairspray in your checked luggage. Any liquids or gels in your carry-on suitcase larger than 3.4 ounces (100 millilitres) won't be allowed on. Sharp objects, like your pocket knife, and dangerous products which are explosive or flammable, such as aerosol cans, flares and poisons, are also prohibited.
What to wear on a flight:
- You'll want to go for comfort over style. Prepare for changes in temperature by wearing layers, and wear flat, enclosed footwear like slip-ons.
- Deep vein thrombosis (DVT) is a risk on long-haul flights. It results from blood clotting due to inactivity and poor circulation, so do some gentle foot and leg exercises in your seat and consider wearing compression socks or tights.
