If you're not prepared, travelling can be overwhelming. But don't hit the panic button just yet. Follow these handy tips and enjoy a pain-free start to your holiday in Wangerland. What to pack in your hand luggage:
- A plane trip can be a great experience if you bring the right stuff. First things first, you'll need toiletry items, such as deodorant, toothpaste and a toothbrush, a spare set of clothes and a good novel. Next, leave space in your bag for your mobile phone, a charger, any medications and maybe a quality neck pillow too. Lastly, remember to bring your passport, travel docs and your bank cards.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- While the list of prohibited items can differ between air carriers, the general rule of thumb is nothing flammable, sharp or explosive. This includes things like screwdrivers, blades, aerosol cans and flares. Sporting equipment like golf clubs, and items that could injure passengers, such as guns and swords, aren't allowed in the cabin either.
What to wear on a flight:
- Your aim here is to feel as comfortable as you can. Layer up with loose, natural fibers and remember to bring a jacket in case you get cold. Go for a pair of flat, well-fitting shoes as your feet may swell a little during the flight. Leave the stilettos and hiking boots in your main luggage.
- Most travellers are aware of DVT (deep vein thrombosis), a blood clotting condition caused by reduced mobility or inactivity. There are numerous ways to mitigate your risk. Don a pair of compression tights or socks, stay well hydrated and move your legs and feet. Walk around the cabin when possible or perform some simple exercises in your seat.
