Depending on where you're coming from, your journey to Yan'an could be simple and straightforward or it could go on forever. We've put together some useful travel tips that will help you start your next great adventure on a positive note. What to pack in your hand luggage:
- The trick to having a great travel experience is to pack in advance. First up, the essentials: passport, official ID, bank cards and daily medications. Next, take on board items that'll help while away those hours, like some electronic gadgets or a thrilling novel. It's also smart to pack your chargers, a neck pillow and a pair of noise-cancelling headphones. And of course, don't forget to chuck in toiletries like a toothbrush, cleansing wipes and a fresh change of clothes.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- Pack all your full-sized bottles of hair gel and hairspray in your checked baggage. Any liquids or gels in your carry-on suitcase larger than 3.4 ounces (100 millilitres) will be confiscated by security. Sharp objects, like your Swiss Army knife, and dangerous products which are explosive or flammable, such as flares, chemicals agents and gasoline, are also prohibited.
What to wear on a flight:
- Your aim is to feel as comfortable as you can. Go for a pair of flat, closed-toe shoes, dress in loose, breathable clothing and remember to bring a sweater in case you get cold in the cabin.
- Deep vein thrombosis (DVT) can pose a risk on long-distance flights. It's the result of blood clots forming due to inactivity and poor circulation, so do some gentle foot and leg exercises in your seat and consider wearing compression socks or tights.
