We've got the lowdown on how to make your flight a pleasant experience. Follow our insider tips and you'll be hightailing it through airport security and having a blast in Zandvoort in no time flat. What to pack in your hand luggage:
- Flying can be a cruisy experience if you pack the right gear. Firstly, you'll want a few basic toiletry items, such as a toothbrush and some deodorant, a spare pair of socks and a good book. Secondly, find room in your bag for your electronic devices, chargers, your medications and maybe a quality neck pillow as well. Lastly, and most importantly, be sure to take your passport, travel documents and some money.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- Double-check that you don't have sharp objects (like a pocket knife) lurking in one of the zippers of your carry-on luggage. Other prohibited items include explosive or flammable goods, such as aerosol cans and bleach, and liquids and gels in containers with a capacity of more than 3.4 ounces (100 millilitres).
What to wear on a flight:
- The aisles of an airplane are no place for a fashion parade. Wear layers and go for shoes that are roomy, flat and easy to pull on and off.
- Caused by prolonged periods of inactivity, deep vein thrombosis (DVT) is a blood clotting condition that can affect some passengers on long-distance flights. Lower your risks by staying hydrated, keeping your lower limbs moving and wearing compression socks to help your circulation.
