[Why was my first review rejected? Review was politely honest (maybe too honest?). It did not include any of the cited ‘possible reasons’ (specific prices or room rates; profanity; personal information). If this second attempt is rejected, then I suspect that Expedia/Wyndham is gaming the reviews.]
This Wyndham Hotel-Columbus compares favorably to a ‘never staying here again’, roadside motel. (Yep. Stayed at a bunch of them to afford ski lift tickets). There were couple of pros: reasonable price; quiet; convenient location to OSU; comfortable bedding. However, the cons easily outweigh those pros: Entire hotel needs major renovation (dark, dingy hallways; peeling paint; stained walls; filthy carpets; delaminated doors; non-drawing window drapes (no privacy)). Not a facetious comment: Allowing dogs to stay in the rooms is disgusting -- bed bugs worries is bad enough, but fleas & ticks also?
It is probably not uncommon for hotels to maximize its income by offering less than desirable rooms (e.g., neglected sections/rooms, slated for renovation; near elevators and vending & ice machines; dingy hallways) at a discounted rate to travel booking agencies. So, beware! Unless you are really desperate, stay away until Wyndham completely renovates this hotel. It is not worth the couple of bucks that you may save.
