"We booked this hotel for a quick stay after a long days bus ride. At time of booking a message was sent to management letting them know that our arrival to the hotel would be late as there was a lengthy bus ride and as the expedia app explained late check in was available as per availability whatever that means. The hotel responded a little later that late check in would not be possible and sorry for the inconvenience. Inconvenience? We were only a few hours from our destination at this point...

"It is a true rare gem. A wonderful lodge in the middle of the jungle. Our villa was spacious. It has two huge rooms and a giant porch where we saw monkeys. "Playa Cativo Lodge is a wonderful place and the accommodations, food and staff were absolutely perfect. It was nice to be so close to the gulf which was calm, warm, sandy and perfect for swimming.
My only complaint was that the entire front area of the lodge has been landscaped with grass and ornamental plants, many of which are not native. Because of this large open area few birds or animals come near the lodge. Bird watching was disappointing compared to lodges that have left the rainforest...
"A little piece of heaven. Very close to the Corcovado National Park, you can walk there. Everyday we would go on a hike, as soon as you walk out of the hotel you start seeing monkeys and all sorts of wildlife. Heck, you don't even need to leave the hotel. We had a group of scarlet macaws constantly hanging out in a tree right outside our room. And a brave little monkey paid a visit one day as well. The food prepared by Chef Coco was amazing! Everything was sourced locally and made from scratch....
