The Chain Bridge is one of Budapest's well known landmarks. At the time of its construction, it was regarded as one of the modern world's engineering wonders. Best photos of the bridge can be taken from the buda hill, with the parliament building on the background.

Trivia: According to the story, sculptor Marschalko János forgot to carve out the lions' tongues. A boy noticed this during the opening ceremony. The sculptor became so distressed that he jumped off the bridge into the Danube.'

Old Budapest is magical at twilight. This is an image of the Chain Bridge from the east bank (south of the Bridge) with Buda Castle on the hill overlooking the City in the left background. It was founded as the Ethnographic Department of the Hungarian National Museum in 1872. Its first director was John Xantus de Vesey.
