"This hotel only has two things going for it, the very central location and the very friendly front staff. It is easy to walk everywhere and most tour companies will pick up from the hotel - which were the reasons why I selected it. But I stayed for four nights and only had my room serviced once, and then only to empty the bin. Dirty cups and glasses, wet towels, messy floor (on arrival) - all ignored. What's more, there was a pair of men's underpants left under the table when I arrived, and of...

"The actual place looks like it shouldn’t be open, looks like a construction site but nothings being done. The one room that looks like it’s to be used that we were given smelt like it had been completely coated in bleach it was that strong that it burnt the nose hairs. We gave the key back and the person there asked why, we said we decided to keep going - not happy at all and wasted $200!!"

"The place looked abandoned & not open. Absolutely zero communication from the host about checkin process. The property had no access, was surrounded by a high wall & had high grass surrounding it on all sides. I repeat - it looked abandoned & very sketchy. My husband decided not to even stay there because it did not look to be in a safe area. We went to the Hilton Doubletree instead, which is a lovely hotel in Alice. I cannot recommend anything at all about VATU Sanctuary. "

"This hostel is perfect for travellers doing a guided outback tour. You can leave your big luggage there for free and they offer super early breakfast, because the tour operators pick you up early morning usually."

"THE " Heavitree Gap Outback Lodge " was just such a refreshing place to stay at minimal cost. The staff at reception "LESLIE AND PAGE were so helpful and refreshingly honest in their attitude towards customers and their respective jobs. The cleaning and room preparation was excellent and the cleaning staff were most obliging in providing extra service if there was a requirement.. such as sugar, tea, milk, blankets etc. Kudos to the groundsmen for their efforts to keep all clean and tidy."
