"The place is what you pay for I guess. You'd think £60 would go farther in Tanzania but apparently not, Arusha is expensive. Basically, rooms are like prison cells, bathrooms terrible, and it took a few tries to find a room with working aircon. Staff were friendly enough if a little inefficient. What is with having to ask for toilet paper all the time - just have some in the room, its a basic necessity!!!"

"Don't stay here - the booking and payment is not working and the staff are so rude ! When we arrived to the hotel the 4th August at 8 pm the staff in the reception told us that they haven't received any booking or any money from hotels.com. Therefore they wanted us to pay again and they didn't care when we showed them the confirmation email (with booking and payment). This is a problem that they have had before according to the staff and also according to a review from a customer on...

"I was just coming off a tour and had an extra night to spend in Arusha. Rather than spend the night in the tour hotel I decided to try Mc-Elly's for about 4x LESS the price. The area in the daytime is a bit chaotic (industrial area) but it's the real Africa not what I saw in the tour hotel. As soon as the sun goes down it was very quiet. Loved sitting out on my balcony. Breakfast was great, lots of variety and the manager of the hotel even greeted me asking me how I found everything. Nice...
