"Overall very good hotel and worth to stay there. The staff is super super polite with a nice smile everywhere, from top to bottom. The beach is nice, open to the north winds. Food is acceptable standard hotel buffet with variety of foods (although no Cretan foods or delicacies at the part of the buffer we were using). "Batis hotel is conveniently located on front line to the Rethymno beach. Hotel is located about 20 min walk from the old town of Rethymno. Rooms were modern, spacious and clean, however housekeeping doesn't work on Sundays. Air-condition is in every room. Dina - receptionist was very friendly and helpful, she replied all our questions. "The room was very basic for a 5 store hotel. Basic bed and with only two pillows. Air conditioning was not working - the door was closed appropriately in order for it to turn on, but it was warm. We told reception but nothing was done. We stayed in a room with a private pool which was nice, although the water was freezing cold (and we went in late August). Definitely recommend a heated pool. We had a half board - the food was great. We didn’t have a chance to use the amenities."

"What i did not like was the pool is not clean, it has a yellow stucky film around the while pool. And there is a lot of bacteria in the pool. I can tell it has not been cleand for a while."

"Overall, we had a pleasant stay. The first room were given on arrival late at night was terrible. It was damp and full of flies. We insisted on a move and this was arranged. That room (612) should not be given to guests! The hotel is not a five star, especially when compared to the standard you get in the far / middle east, US, and other parts of Europe. The staff were very friendly, helpful and tried their best. A few simple changes would make a stay better - eg a golf buggy type of transport...
