"My room was a little beat up. Definitely has seen better days but everything was clean and worked as it should. I’d say they’re due for a cosmetic update. I like that the windows open a bit for fresh air. I don’t like having to use my key to work the lights. If that’s required at least have the card slot glow instead of making me fumble for it when I came home at night.
Staff was wonderful. Particularly in the restaurant and bar. Top notch. Food was also delicious."
"This is VERY child friendly, so if you are looking for peace and quiet, this is not for you. That being said, the rooms were quite soundproof unlike in the U.S. The staff was friendly, the breakfast spread was large, and the location was good."
"Mycket bra och förmånligt boende i Åbo centrum. Trots att rummet var ut mot torget och huvudgatan så var det riktigt tyst och lugnt.
Minikök med presskanna och stor kaffeportion samt tepåsar.
Blir definitivt flera besök på detta hotell. "
"This is an incredibly nice hotel. The staff were kind and helpful, the room is very comfortable and clean, the food was good, and you get a discounted rate at a lovely spa a short walk away. My only complaint is that, as an American who lives in a country with a prison industrial system, I was hoping this prison-turned-hotel would be focused more on "Isn't it wonderful our crime rate is so low in Finland that we close prisons rather than open more? Look how we reused the space to provide a comfortable space for travelers to sleep and a nice cafe where people can enjoy meals together". The decor is lots of barbed wire and handcuffs attached to furniture and a giant mural of the prisoners in the restaurant. They make it nearly impossible to not think about the people who were once held there. I wish, much like the way a lot of old churches have been turned into secular community spaces, that this old prison felt more interested in a brighter future rather than clinging to a dark past."
"Excellent location to go every where. All buses pass around the corner. The mall and supermarket right downstairs and across the street. The apartment has everything you need to sleep and quick cook snacks to save some money. Good ratio price / quality. "
"The hotel staff was friendly and helpful in all aspects of my stay. The room was suoer clean and modern. Only thing I would change was the pillows but I am a fussy sleeper so.. The location was perfect for me for visiting a relative in TYKS; 5mins walk across the road. The bistro within the hotel was top class-food was amazing quality and the staff again very lovely.
It was easy walk to city centre, took me anout 20mins on snowy well kept pathways. The corner shop opposite (K market) was also good to have nearby. Will definetly return! "
