This is an old hotel and it shows, but staff was as helpful as possible given what they had to work with. Showed me 3 room options to get away from roar of heating system throughout much of the building and outside traffic noise. Convenient location in Dumfries.

Lovely hotel with freindly helpful staff Room nice, large and comfortable. Breakfast tasty and plentiful. Leisure area clean. Good pool, saunas and jacuzzi.

All staff were very friendly and helpful. We stayed with our 2 young children and it became apparent that the hotel was not particularly tailored for children. The pool was clean and well maintained but not great for young kids. The bathroom in our family room was a big surprise with a jacuzzi bath and built in TV….nice!!!

Very hot rooms.

The rooms are incredibly hot and it's almost impossible to sleep. Windows can only be open a little so that doesn't help and there isn't air conditioning in the rooms. It was a very uncomfortable weekend.

Will not return.

Overall stay adequate but very disappointed with evening meal. Room very hot impossible to sleep with windows open due to road noise and room situated above balcony bar area. Voices until 3.15am. Two bus stops outside room (either side of road) with buses sitting with engine running. First one at 6.20am until 6.30am.

The hotel is in a great location with the main town of Dumfries within a few minutes walk which is a bonus. Deluxe room with jet bath very poor value. Would not pay that again. Bath was far too short so you couldn’t stretch out. Very narrow too. The tv in the bathroom was great but due to internet issues could not use. I ended up hot-spotting data from my phone to play music whilst in the jet bath. There was no air conditioning in the room which made sleeping very uncomfortable and was a factor in deciding to leave a day early. The food was questionable. We had a steak dinner on the first night after which I was sick. The hot breakfast buffet was cold. The tea was as black as the coffee - both undrinkable. Very poor service in the restaurant. They seemed under staffed. The internet issues meant that we weren’t able to stream Netflix etc for an evening movie. Very disappointed. The saving grace was the leisure facilities. The pool, sauna and jacuzzi were all open and we spent most of the time there. I would return again based on location and leisure facilities but not service or amenities. Would benefit greatly from an upgrade on basics eg good internet connection, air conditioning etc.

Hotel was good, service at reception not great, kept waiting each time despite person being in the back office and appeared to be deliberately ignoring us. Service in restaurant good. Room was nice but the weather was really hot and the room was like a sauna, windows only open about an inch and no air conditioning or fans available which made it difficult to sleep. Enjoyed leisure facilities.

Great time. Enjoyed the hotel, the leisure suite and surprise tv in the bath. Staff friendly and humerous. Room was very hot but that is nature's fault and not the hotel's. Delicious breakfast. Excellent location for town. Will return.

Pleasant stay

Convenient location for seeing Dumfries. Pool and gym typical of a Spa hotel and open reasonable hours. Breakfast very good. Evening meal menu changes daily with a small selection but food was good. Pop-up cocktail bar for the summer was below our room and very noisy until it closed. Room looked a little tired and sealant to shower and screen could do with replacing as discoloured. WiFi rather patchy in the room.

I was provided a room which was flity and uncleaned, considering we are un the middle of a pandemic, this is disgraceful. When i comolained and rwauested an alternative room, i was met with ignornace, no apology, not even a comment, i was simply handed a room key for an alternative room. Absolutely horrible service all round.
