Luxurious stay

The guest house is superb: everything is brand new, modern, immaculate and of a very high standard. The landlady was very friendly, kind and made us feel like at home. Breakfast offered plenty of options and was served in a lovely dining room.

Best B & B place we have ever stayed

My wife and I spent one night at High View Guest House on 19 Oct after sending our daughter to Durham University. We drove the whole morning from Southampton and were quite exhausted when we reached Durham in late afternoon. We were glad to find warm welcome and hospitality at High View Guest House. The place is well maintained, clean and modern. Everything looks new, although we were told the place has been a B & B for three years. Our Room No. 1 has a panorama view of Durham outskirts. My wife and I each enjoyed a hot bath. We asked for advice where to have dinner. The host told us about a decent restaurant near the railroad bridge. But we couldn't find it. We settled for fish and chips at The Cod Gather near Tesco, which turned out to be quite good. We had a very relaxing good sleep afterwards. What awaited us the following morning was a big surprise: We were the only two guests in the house and we can choose our breakfast from a menu. Both of us went for a full English Breakfast, which was excellent. Our only regrets is that we could stay only one night. We had to leave for London after breakfast. But we intend to return to stay at the guest house when we come to visit our daughter at Durham next year.

Highly recommended

We stayed one night and didn't have much time to enjoy the place but it was lovely. Beautiful modern interior, very clean and comfortable. Owners were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was fab as well.

Fantastic.

I stayed here for a week and was welcomed and shown to my room, which was spotless and was changed every day. The breakfast is incredible and served at a time that suits you was amazing as I was here on business.

Friendly and comfortable B & B

We stayed for one night, owners very welcoming with a welcome cup of tea; decor immaculate throughout, all facilities were good although TV reception was a bit patchy at times, no problems with a shared bathroom, plenty of choice for breakfast which was tasty and set us up for the day.

Comfortable, affordable, clean!

Affordable, comfortable and immaculate! A great welcome with a mug of tea and a delicious breakfast in the morning. We were stopping off to drop our son at Durham University and were very happy to have stayed here, just 3 miles out of Durham.

what a great bed and breakfast this is cant say a bad thing about it its off the main road so you get a good nights sleep we had help to our room and was offered a nice cup of tea we were always made to feel well come breakfast was great as well had lots to offer you. we will stay here again if we come up this way again just like to say to the couple that run this bed and breakfast well done and keep the good work up best wishes from Margaret and Stephen.

This is a wonderful guest house. Clean, comfortable, beautifully decorated and maintained. The couple who own it are lovely, helpful,people. The breakfast was delicious. There is off road parking.the house is situated in a quiet cul de sac. Would recommend this guest house to anyone. Five star!

Five star guest house

A wonderful guest house. It is clean, comfortable, immaculately decorated and maintained. Situated in a quiet cul de sac in a lovely garden and has off street parking. The owners are friendly and helpful. The breakfast was delicious. The only negative for us was a shared bathroom but the bathroom is wonderfully appointed and there is a second toilet. Bath robes are provided too. We had booked for one night and stayed two.

Beautifully appointed house owned & run by a very welcoming couple. Lots of nice finishing touches and wonderful breakfast. Would definitely recommend to friends & would be happy to stay there again.

Fantastic B&B

Everything was fantastic. We nearly felt like royalty in our luxurious room, and although the bathroom was shared I would love to steal it and transplant it into my own home. The owners are extremely nice and helpful, breakfast was delicious, the house and garden are lovely, and everything was spotless and tidy. We'd definitely stay again whenever visiting Durham.

Spotless. Owners have gone to a great deal of trouble to make the place really welcoming. Nothing was too much trouble for the hosts. Very comfortable bed, with plenty of space in the room. Very high quality fitted wardrobe. Very nice view from bedroom too. Bathroom was really nice. A great bath. and the water pressure for the shower was extraordinary. Great breakfast too. Only minor issue is that sound insulation is not as good as it might be (but this is a house, not a hotel, so one can't really expect better). Would certainly recommend to anyone, particularly if the group wanted the two rooms.

Easy access to University without traffic.

Everything OK ecept the WC and shower can be clearly heard in attached bedroom and I did not sleep well when there were other guests. It was fine the first night as I was only guest. I would need the front room in future. Very good breakfast and excellent location and decor of house. Owners very helpful. Great pity they do not take credit cards as carrying cash about is a real problem.
