"We STRONGLY NOT recommend this Hotel. When we arrived it was pouring rain and it took hotel attendant more than 20 minutes to walk us one by one with the smallest umbrella ever to the reception area. Obviously we were drenched. We met the Owner that charged us an extra $100 dollars in cash for 2 rooms with AC because we had mistakenly reserved the rooms with no AC. The smaller rooms toilet and AC wasn’t working. "Our family had a wonderful stay at El Encuentro Surf Lodge. From the moment we arrived, we were impressed by the warmth and friendliness of the entire staff. Everyone went out of their way to make us feel welcome and ensure we had everything we needed throughout our stay. The breakfast each morning was delicious, with fresh, high-quality options that gave us the perfect start to the day. One of the highlights of our trip was the surf school. The instructors were professional, patient, and fantastic with both adults and children, making the experience enjoyable and rewarding for everyone. The location is simply stunning. Playa Encuentro is one of the most beautiful surf beaches we have visited, with consistent waves, a relaxed atmosphere, and breathtaking ocean views. Despite feeling like a peaceful tropical escape, the lodge is only about 20 minutes from Puerto Plata Airport, making travel incredibly easy and convenient. We highly recommend El Encuentro Surf Lodge to families looking for a combination of relaxation, adventure, and genuine hospitality. We can't wait to return."

"Did not get a response to my emails prior to my arrival to get airport pick up had to take a taxi Minimal English speaking at the resort use Google translator Even with the translator, there were some confusion about what I was asking The included breakfast was nowhere that I could see or find There was a carafe copy that was very cold No one greeted me when I went over to instruct me as to where I would have breakfast once again no Comprende was usually the response even with my translator I had ceviche for lunch every day. It was delicious. There was no water in my five days I received two bottles of water My room was cute, quaint, clean, and surprisingly, although it is surrounded by lots of trees vines and thatch there were no bugs! The resort itself was exactly what I was looking for quaint organic. There’s a little pool as we enter to the resort on the right hand side, which is where I did most of my swimming it was clean and pretty and quiet. The remaining pools typically had leaves and debris in them I found my own way back to the airport to depart "

"I had to leave after the first night, the room was very dirty, unsanitary and even dangerous. Shower head full of mold, the floor was very dirty black, hot water was on and off, there was not light, walls very dirty, I couldn’t even shower that night, microwave was horrible filthy, bathroom didn’t have curtains and people from the beach were able to see me even though it was the third floor. the hallway and stairs outside the property didn’t have light at all which made it hazardous, I wanted to leave running the same night but due to holiday everywhere else was sold out. I want my money back because I only stayed 1 night of the 3. I had to book hotel somewhere else because I couldn’t stay one more night there. I will attach photos and videos if required."
