"A lovely quiet place perfect for a night away. Clean and comfortable. Great host, always there to help out. Just be aware that the hot tub is a paid extra, something that is not mentioned but that is not the hosts fault. They are unsure why that information is missing from the listing. Hotels.com were useless at trying to sort that out. But don't hesitate to book this place, just maybe drop them a message about using the hot tub first. Thanks for a great stay Jenna, nice to meet you 👍"

"A decent enough room for the price. The only issues were a very noisy radiator in the room that woke me several times and very disappointing shower - hardly any water coming from the shower head. Other than that it’s a very historic hotel with character and in a lovely location."

"We booked this hotel when we travelled from Kent to a 50th wedding anniversary. The location is beautiful, right on the river with country views. A short walk into the pretty town. The hotel was very nice, the breakfast plentiful with a good choice. We also ate in the restaurant and had a very nice meal. The room was large and had a nice bathroom with a great shower. There is no lift in this hotel, but there are rooms nearby which might suit people who would have difficulty climbing the stairs. There are also low beams, which are charming but be aware if you are tall. All in all we were very happy with our stay. Sudbury and the surrounding areas are lovely. We went into Cambridge one day using the Trumpington park & ride, and went to Clare castle and country park. I would happily recommend this hotel."

"The room was clean, but dated. The staff were friendly and very helpful We didn't have breakfast there, but only because we had other arrangements. We did have dinner the three nights we stayed, all of the meals were excellent and well presented. Parking was not a problem, enough space for all guests and staff. The hotel is an old property that oozes character and the garden is quiet and relaxing. The room we had does need some tlc to be honest, but for 3 nights it was acceptable."

"Well presented and quietly located bedroom in an adjacent building with all necessary amenities - tea/coffee maker, iron. Large and well equipped, modern bathroom. Spotlessly clean on arrival although, a minor grudge, no housekeeping on 2nd day. Very good dinner (duck) well presented. Delicious breakfast on both mornings - comprehensive menu. Saturday's breakfast was a bit if a scrum as the restaurant is popular with non-residents which meant slower service. Generally excellent value and recommended."

"Our rooms looked nothing like the photo’s on here. The carpets had huge stains on them and the furniture was dated and beat up. Our window would not open and the frame was rotting. Our bathroom was dark and the shower would sporadically turn burning hot to freezing cold. The women’s toilets in the bar area had multiple out of order signs on the doors and the one I was able to use had a huge hole in the wall where tiles were missing and broken. The whole place has seen better days! In addition, the staff seemed irritated when we arrived and were quite rude to use and other members of our group (there were 23 of us). The only positives were the breakfast and the location."
