"The hotel has great decor, and the room was big and well appointed with a fantastic view - but the service was patchy, and the hotel’s overuse of tech and AI in favour of actual service was genuinely annoying. For example: We arrived about 8pm after a long flight from abroad (with a young child) and after asking how to sort dinner, I was told on check-in that the room service wasn’t operating that night (with no explanation or apology). Dragging a jet lagged child to the restaurant wasn’t feasible, but I was offered no solutions, and when I asked if I could use Ubereats or similar, I was told I could but would need to collect it myself from the lobby (less than ideal with a sleepy child - this is definitely not a hotel staffed by people who understand children). Once it was delivered, I asked the hotel for crockery, cutlery and glassware and was only able to reach an AI answering service, so I ended up running around the hotel’s bar and cafe to collect whatever I could find - which was basically only flimsy, unusable disposable plastic ware. On our second morning I attempted to order breakfast room service, which has to be done through a QR code with no ability to engage with a human, and has to be paid for by credit card rather than charged to the room. I was told there was an error and after clicking on the notification several times I realised it had charged my card 5 times - and the food didn’t even arrive! It was only after I phoned the front desk anything was done"

"Lovely property. It’s not just a boxy room but former small residences from 1926 so our had a mini kitchenette and nice bath and makeup area. They have a bar/restaurant and separate cafe. The food was good quality and the prices were ok. The bar/restaurant is a great smaller 1920s style space that’s great for relaxing. The staff was very courteous and helpful. It’s ala very convenient to George Washington university, a food hall, Whole Foods and a number of restaurants. Parking on the weekend wasn’t too bad as you could valet or park in a nearby self park garage. "

"Had a clean room and nice view. Breakfast was delicious with a good variety, albeit a bit on the cold side rather than hot. There was a big youth group staying and were very rowdy, made noisy into late nite and put their garbage at my door. I had to checkout at 5am and was unable to rest"

The first night I stayed in a room that was awesome but for some reason the mattress felt a little hard. Within an hour of expressing my concern, a manager personally reached out. And the manager did not just apologize but ensured that robust action was taken to resolve my concerns. By the time I finished breakfast, they had transitioned me into a new room with a mattress that was the perfect. When staying in a hotel there is nothing better than knowing that you have a hotel staff behind you that treats you with sincerity and respect. A staff that if something is not right, they solve the problem with a level of grace, kindness, and excellence in hospitality. Such excellence was displayed to me when the staff solved this mattress issue that I had when I stayed there. This exceptional customer service distinguishes Hilton Capitol Hil I believe from our hotels in DC. "This hotel had the perfect location for my purposes. The room and bathroom was very clean, the bed was very comfortable. The staff was short tempered, and did not give clear directions. At first they forgot to give me the key, so I didn't know my room number. Then, they told me to go park in the garage, under the hotel. It looked like you were heading into a garbage dump. Then, the directions for using the garage code was not clear. However, it all worked out well in the end. I will stay there happily next year now that I understand the set up."
