"I stayed at this hotel 24 years ago for 4 weeks, when it was a Hilton, so it was a bit of a throw back for me! This time I stayed 3 nights. The rooms are functional, and what you would expect from a Novotel at the airport. They were clean and quiet, with coffee machines, iron, Ritual bathroom products and dressing gowns. The staff on reception were super friendly and helpful which really stood out and was refreshing. The gym was pretty rubbish. Quite a lot of equipment but old and not maintained. This was disappointing. The breakfast was also mediocre. Unfortunately food labelling was non existent which was frustrating and it was all quite cheap and cheerful x"

"I had a comfortable overnight stay before my flight to France. I had dinner in the restaurant which was nice, also a good breakfast except for the scrambled eggs !"

"I’ve stayed at The Essex Golf & Country Club several times before and have always had a pleasant experience, which is why this visit was so disappointing. Unfortunately, the room did not meet the usual standards I’ve come to expect. The bed hadn’t been made properly, which immediately gave a poor first impression, and the bath drain was extremely slow, making it frustrating to use. It’s a shame because I’ve enjoyed my previous stays here, but this time the lack of attention to detail really let things down. I hope this was just a one-off, as I would like to return in the future, but improvements definitely need to be made to maintain the quality guests expect"

"Very good value en suite room at £27 including ensuite on a Friday night in Greater London with comfortable bed and bedding in hotel with very professional reception double manned 24/7. Only downside where there could be some improvement was unusually no bedside light of any kind and only overhead light with switch at the door meaning you have to get out of bed in the dark and stumble about to find overhead light switch. Also very slightly musty smell in these loft space rooms with skylight that could be sorted out by installing trickle flow ventilation and/or a dehumidifier. "

"Nothing wrong with the hotel per say, the pre-requisite of checking in takes longer than it needs to be and the inital deposit for the room (incase you charge anything back to it) is not very forthwith considering its £100 which is on the costly side for a deposite. Im still waiting for it to be released back to me. A simple card check would have suffied. Unfortunately the spa facilities were closed during my stay."
