"This is one of the best if not the best places I’ve stayed at. So much history in this hotel plus such a great experience to stay in a room made of stone. The staff were incredibly nice and helpful all the time. The lady at the front desk was super sweet and provided so many great tips of what we could do. Even provided us a map of the area.
In our room they provided free water which was great! Plus some strawberries and apples which were delicious!
The breakfast was nothing I’ve ever experienced. It was served like a restaurant. A few platters of fruit and bakery items for breakfast plus coffee and the most delicious apricot juice. The food was simple but filling and delicious!
They also have some history under the hotel with a tunnel which was really cool to see.
The morning we left it was super early but the lady that runs the breakfast offered to make us some coffee just for us before we left. Made us feel right at home.
It was just an amazing experience. Matera is beautiful and this hotel and the staff were amazing! Highly recommended this hotel to anyone!!
Ps. It is in the lowest part of matera so there are A LOT of stairs - highly suggest not having big luggage. "
"I really enjoyed my stay here, the property was perfect and staying in the old town was incredible. The staff really put the extra effort in to make you feel at home.
I’d 100% recommend.

"Everything from check in to check out was extremely efficient, friendly and professional, with smiles throughout.
Beautiful accommodation with everything we needed for our short stay.
Would highly recommend. Excellent location "
"I would highly rate the location of this hotel. It is 2 minutes away from the main square and getting into Sassi. 10/10 if you're looking for a place close to the tourist attractions, but don't want to drag your bags through the stairs of the Sassi.
The rooms were very clean, and were left very clean every day by the cleaners. It does feel more like a business hotel than a vacation hotel.
The staff was alright, they weren't super friendly, but they weren't rude either - which made us feel more like a business hotel type of vibe.
The parking situation is confusing - they do have a parking garage for €18/night, however it's first come first serve, so not guaranteed to get a place. BUT, it's also in the ZTL zone - they do make you sign a form with your license plate to make sure you don't get fined, but I'd say rather find parking in the nearby streets outside ZTL or there's a parking garage 3-4 mins walking distance that's outside ZTL.
This communication of parking was also alright from the hotel, and it was more so of figure it out yourself. Don't get me wrong, the staff is nice, but the hotels we stayed in, in rest of Italy, the hospitality there was next level, which is why the staff here felt average.
But overall, highly recommend this hotel for the cleanliness, top location, breakfast, good rooms!"
"Ok so location was PERFECT and staff was so so helpful !! Room was beautiful and breakfast was great. What this room lacked was no espresso machine in room, no A/C, No body lotion, no iron, no usb phone charging points. Another thing. You cannot take ur car there and you have to park the vehicle far away. These hotels call super expensive cabs for lile siper short distances and are taking advantage of that. This is borderline exploitation. Hotels shud run super cheap or free shuttles to help tourists. "
"What an amazing place!! The room was perfect and the breakfast was very nice. We enjoyed the thermal bath immensely. The staff was friendly and helpful."
"Breakfast ok. Room was clean and comfortable. TV had no English speaking stations. Google maps showed hotel 0.4 miles away from actual location. Staff had difficulty telling me where property actually was, when phoned in with problem. Staff helpful in scheduling City tour, but when could not locate tour guide, had difficulty helping to make connection. "
