Charming, comfortable, and homey hotel

We had a great stay at the beautiful Yangshuo Scenic Mountain Retreat. Our room was nice and comfortable, although in the winter be warned that there is no heating! The wifi works quite well and there is always ginger tea available in the main lobby for guests. We also had very tasty breakfasts (we tried Western and Chinese and both were great), and the hotel also arranged for us to hire some bicycles for the day so we could explore the area. Paul, the hotel manager, speaks excellent English and did everything in his power to make sure our stay was wonderful. He was very helpful and drew us maps, wrote us notes in Chinese, and did all that he could to make sure that we had a great visit.

Great Hotel

Nice & quiet hotel tuck in a corner with wonderful view of mountains. Great service from owner as well as Ms Sira for given information about the area and attractions.

Nice mountain retreat

Great location, just far enough outside of town. Quiet and cozy. Fantastic deal as well. The owners where super nice and helpful.

Fantastic mountain retreat

Perfect for outdoorsy people. My wife and I booked 2 nights, but stayed for 4! Great owners, super helpful and friendly. The hotel is far enough outside of downtown, but close enough too.

It's a great inn in every way

Planning to go to Yangshuo, on the internet compared to several hotels, and finally chose Cui Studios this quaint Chinese inn, to this inn is really very satisfied with it, whether it is the appearance of the inn decoration or room are antique, I personally think the best is the room of the large balcony, sitting on the balcony outside the sofa facing the green hills , Sit still for a while feel refreshed, the whole person's body and mind relax and fade away all the exhaustion, can quietly enjoy nature. Inn is located in the Rendezvous River Scenic Area, in this season out of the inn walking along the path can see the rapeseed flower sea, you can take beautiful photos! In general, this hotel is not only good location, good decoration, service is also great! Go to Yangshuo play small friends Choose this inn will not regret .

Yangshuo Scenic Mountain Retreat is a beautiful, boutique, family run hotel in a fantastic location in the heart of Yangshuo. We felt so warm and welcomed by all of the staff and Sira was incredibly helpful. She made sure we were able to get the most out of our time in Guilin area and went above and beyond to help us. The bedrooms were extremely comfortable and very clean and well equipped with everything we needed. The warmth and atmosphere of the hotel and the family made this trip the best of many we have made in China. Thank you so much.

We really enjoyed our recent 2 day stay at Yangshuo Scenic Mountain Retreat. This small boutique hotel has a traditional feel and look, but is modern and comfortable. The owners and staff are wonderful - they go out of their way to make sure all your needs are met. Great breakfast of dumplings or noodles, cooked just for you, each morning. Beautiful view of the Karst mountains from your window and terrace.

Great authentic Chinese hotel

The staff was incredibly helpful - we actually got dropped off at the wrong hotel (our fault) and the Yangshuo Scenic Mountain Retreat hotel came and got us quickly. The hotel has an amazing exterior and we were very surprised of how modern type features they had. It's a short ride (5-10 min scooter ride) from the popular west street and renting scooters there is very easy - you tell front desk and scooters will be there within 5 min from a nearby shop. The view from our room was a 6 star view - the hills were spectacular. Overall, strong recommendation, great feel, great hotel! We will stay there again next time.

Beautiful, homey retreat nestled in the karsts.

We arrived after dark and so we were not aware of our surroundings. When a misty morning arrived and we looked out our window, this pic was our view. This view is indicative of the surrounding area, it is a fairy tale. As the hotel is inside the park area, you are limited for dining options nearby but there was a cute little place next door with great food that we were more than happy to return to each night for dinner. There are places you can access on foot or bike on a nice night but we were exhausted and it was a cold, wet spell. We did hit the bustling West street in the town of Yangshou one evening-a short drive away and could definitely be biked in good weather and has a world of options. Paul helped us with everything we needed during our stay incl. arranging bike rentals, bamboo rafting and a driver to get us to some of the not so easily accessed old villages etc. We can't say enough about him and the staff/management of the hotel, they made us feel more than welcome. The building itself has somewhat of a "lodge" feel but that should not discourage you. Just modern enough, well maintained, clean and beautifully constructed. I won't get derailed about the homemade breakfast each day but if you're into local fare, it was a real treat every morning. This is a good jumping off point for seeing the best scenery the region has to offer as it is central to what I would consider the must-sees if you don't mind biking or driving. We were sad to leave, you will be too

Excellent! Excellent! Excellent!

This was my 2nd time in Yangshou and I will never stay at another location! Paul at the front desk was so helpful and sweet and always made sure I had everything I needed. Sira was fantastic with information about things to do in the area. The restaurant next door (Pica Pica) is great for all kinds of food. I had a king size room overlooking the road and the mountains and I was so happy. Shower was wonderful after a long day of hiking and walking about. Paul arranged cars to take me to different locations that were far from the retreat as well as the airport. He also arranged massages in my room every night. I have decided to make going to Yangshou and the Scenic Mountain Retreat as my Christmas tradition as it was so relaxing and wonderful!

A hidden gem in Yangshuo

This is a hidden gem at Yangshuo. I arrived in a rental car which made total sense. Upon arrival this beautiful 6 story boutique hotel stands in front of me. I was greeted by Paul and Ms.Xiu (owner) at my car offered to carry my luggage for us. Soon as I entered the courtyard I was pleased with the decoration. The lobby is filled with antique furniture and check in process was easy. The room is just as showed very nice and clean. Love the view from my room and hotel was very quite and peaceful. I sat in the courtyard every night having small talk with my family and the owner. She made dumplings and breakfast for us every morning! Nothing beats home made cooking. I spend 3 night here to recharge and that’s exactly what I got!

Breathtaking

Fantastic location, and the mountain views from the balcony sensational. Staff the friendliest you could ever hope to meet. The bed probably the biggest I have ever slept in, but also the most comfortable. Surprisingly the bathrooms are extremely modern, with soap dispensers instead of those infuriating little blocks of soap. Breakfast though is only Chinese, but there are 2 restaurants serving "English" breakfast close by. I like Chinese food, just not for breakfast. A lift is to be installed in approx 2 months for those less mobile

Cannot fault it.

First of all is the location and scenery, breathtaking. Biggest bed I have slept in, also the most comfortable. Incredible views from the balcony of the mountains. Surprisingly modern shower room, wish I had at home. Free WiFi, but signal is mixed. Breakfast definitely caters for Chinese taste only. 2 other restaurants nearby if you need an English breakfast. I don't mind eating Chinese, but not for my breakfast, but that's just me. The staff could not be more friendly and willing to please. A lot of steps up to the top floor if you have a lot of baggage, good news is they are installing a lift in a couple of months time. Remember where you are, this is not a Sheraton or Hilton you will never regret staying here

Great little hotel

This is a lovely place to stay. Clean, comfortable and a great location. the room had a balcony with a view of one of the mountains and was very nicely decorated with antiques and furniture that had local cultural meaning. The staff are fantastic and speak excellent English which was very helpful for us. We were given great advice on what were the best attractions to visit and even given history on the local area. everything could be arranged through the hotel including electric scooters to go exploring. Our stay was short, two and a half days, so we didn't see everything but we can recommend the butterfly spring, moon hill and the bamboo raft along the river. An old lady lives next to the hotel, Mrs Pan, who allows visitors into her house where she has lived most of her life, I would definitely recommend going and saying hello to her and seeing how she still makes tofu the traditional way. There is also a nice little restaurant, Pico Pico Restaurant, next door that serves Chinese, Thai and American food and several restaurants within walking distance that serve local dishes. We still have a lot to see in yangshuo area so we will be taking another trip there to do the things we missed out on.

Great way to experience Yangshuo!

Awesome experience with Yangshuo Scenic Mountain Retreat! Steve and Sira were a pleasure to work with. Steve organized a driver to pick us up from the Yangshuo train station. Upon arrival, we were served pu-erh tea as Sira checked us in. Sira offered suggestions of activities. We chose biking and rock climbing. Sira made the calls and set everything up for us. We biked to Moon Hill along the river. We also biked to West Street in downtown Yangshuo. Biking is fairly popular in Yangshuo, so drivers are aware of bikers, but still, use caution as the roads can be busy. The room has everything you would expect. Comfortable beds and a large balcony. I'd recommend a "paddy view" room as they have the better view of the mountains. Breakfast was tasty and served when requested. As a side note, all the staff speak English. Highly recommend Yangshuo Scenic Mountain Retreat! Will definitely visit again next time I'm in Yangshuo!
