"The building and grounds here are absolutely beautiful. It's clearly been a wonderful place to stay at some point. Having said that, our trip was generally very disappointing. We arrived in the evening, and there were no staff at all to be seen. There was a bar open, with music playing, and no staff. A sign noted to call a mobile number for help. The first number rang out repeatedly. On a second call, a person answered and seemed confused about whether any staff remained at the hotel. Eventually...

"When we arrived at the hotel, there were no rooms even though we had a confirmation from Expedia. I’m currently working to have the fees refunded."

"Traditional scottish hotel conveniently located near town centre and train station. Very friendly and knowledgeable staff. Clean and well maintained room. Tasty breakfast. Bar and restaurant located withing the hotel property. Beware that the hotel is located no more than fifty yards from the railroad tracks. Trains run frequently during the day and there is also vehicles traffic right outside the window."

"Our fist visit to Montrose. Lovely hotel which met all our needs in terms of friendliness, cleanliness, amenities and location. We had a very plentiful, tasty breakfast. Great atmosphere in the evening when there was a live band and a busy function suite. Have already recommended this hotel and this town to friends."
