Many of the hotels in the area are old as this small bustling town of 12k people see 10k-20k tourists in the summer months per day. This hotel had great location, friendly staff, great breakfast, and Cat Ba Ventures make it very convenient for me book tours around the area, as well as transportation to/from Hanoi.

Best hotel in Vietnam!

I’m pretty sure this is the best hotel in all of Vietnam. The rooms are incredible. Beautifully designed, lots of space, with all the amenities. On top of that, the service was so amazing. The two girls that helped us were so kind and helpful. I don’t think you can find a better hotel!

We had a two night stay at the Moon Boutique Hotel whilst we were doing a Lan Ha boat trip. The hotel itself is lovely, clean and modern and the staff were all very friendly. Our stay was impacted by the construction work which is taking place directly outside, and there was also very loud music coming from the fountain display until late in the evening, which is not the hotel’s fault but did impact our sleep!

The Moon Boutique Hotel was absolutely fantastic with attentive staff and superior breakfast and lunch options. I highly recommend the Moon Boutique Hotel, but would not a lack of alcoholic drink options to enjoy the spectacular sunset from the cozy roof-top lounge.

It was our best hotel in Vietnam so far. We highly recommend it. The room (we booked the suite) was amazing as well as the breakfast and the staff. Unfortunately they are building a huge resort in front of the hotel - better to keep Cat Ba special instead of mass tourism

A nice place to unwind at the end of the day.

We had a great stay here our room ‘was very spacious and well appointed. Lots of storage for your things. The view was nice from the room. There is construction right now but you still have a view. Breakfast buffet was excellent and the staff are very helpful! I definitely recommend this hotel.

Soft comfy beds. First pillow was a bit too big and was provided a perfect slimmer pillow in 5 minutes of my request. Breakfast was amazing and filling, coffee made perfectly and delicious fruits too. Excellent staff and quick check in and check out. The hotel is very well managed, spotless clean & updated with a cute contemporary style, Beds comfy!! Warm welcome with fruit and smoothies, and breakfasts were not buffet, decent options, and servings large. Great downtown location. The window views of an abandoned building with garbage galore behind it was disappointing - but not uncommon in Vietnam. Overall, I would bring my family to this hotel any day. Bonus: the company also runs tours, thus making the planning seamless.

We had a flight delay coming in and the staff at Cat Ba was so communicative and made sure to stay in contact regarding our transportation to the island. They made this process seamless! The property is well kept and the staff was very welcoming with drinks and some fruits. Minh helped us at the front desk and answered lots of questions. Her English is amazing and she was very respectful. Lots of good areas to eat. The water nearby is murky and doesn’t look like the cleanest water to swim since it had some floating garbage in there but lots of people were still swimming at the beaches, so I hopped in and joined them in the warm waters of Cat Ba.

Beautiful, comfortable hotel in a good location

We stayed for 3 nights, opting for The Moon instead of some place by the waterfront (due to the construction work), and we did not regret it! Very friendly staff, excellent room (with a beautiful bathroom), very good breakfast and a nice skybar. Beds were very comfy (but pillows were HUGE). Our room at floor 7 had no seaview (construction site view) but instead a view over the street and rooftops. Across the street a new house was being built in a narrow slot and it was actually quite fascinating to study the progress. The hotel staff booked us scooters and gave helpful tips on where to go.

We absolutely loved our stay at the Moon Boutique Hotel! The staff was wonderful and helped arrange our travel to and from the hotel from Hanoi. The hotel is tucked away in the middle of town and all of the action, but our room was beautiful and quiet. The breakfast was wonderful. The town and residents were still recovering from Typhoon Yagi which struck in September, but the resilence of the people and their positive vibes transcended the physical damage to the area. The beach are was undergoing restoration while we were there in October, but I would guess that it would be back to normal sometime in November. We definitely want to come back to spend more time in Cat Ba as we only had two and a half days there. We will certainly stay again at the Moon Boutique!
