This is a small hotel ideal for back packing but don't expect too much luxury. However it does have two onsens which are a novelty. The staff are friendly and helpful but the property is tired and in need of refurbishment. It is overpriced for what it is.

Beautiful ryokan, somewhat in need of upkeep but genuine traditional Japanese experience. Booked half board and meals were excellent. The kids loved it. Stayed in large Take room which is surrounded by a bamboo forest. Incredible view in the mornings! Onsen was a big highlight of our trip!

Super great Japanese experience ‘! we loved it. But also. this is not your typical hotel... this is a Japanese ryokan with private onsen !meaning you may have to share bathroom and also sleep on a futon on the floor.. So if you’re expecting the Hilton go book somewhere else.. you stay here for the experience of staying at a ryokan and have a private onsen. Pros: Great location ,close proximity to museums and Gora station. Great experience we Stayed with our 2 year old son and he had a blast at the onsen Private onsen , they have two ! We went 3 times just our family which was great experience- there will be onsen tax added at the last day you check out 150 yen a day! Per person per night.Just remember that. Super simple Japanese breakfast ! Which was a great experience too Nice staff! Cons We read other reviews that it’s outdated and old. So we agree it is outdated a bit ,and the rooms are old and some walls are stained because they’re old ! But we knew that already because we read the other review we just wanted to experience the ryokan and the onsen and that was superb So again don’t expect a Hilton and yes it is outdated but we didn’t care it was still fun and great ! our son had a blast.

箱根は長期休暇外して楽しんだ方がいいですね！

安さ重視で選びました。小さい子供との滞在なので、ある意味気楽なのですが、いろんなところに埃がたくさん溜まっていて、手をかけるのが大変なのかなと思いました。また食事の時、お椀に具のない味噌のペーストだけが入っていて、衝撃でした。指定の時間に食堂に行ったのですが、天ぷらはもう冷えひえでした。

Simple, family-run ryokan but the experience was great. The room was spacious and comfortable and the onsen was great. Our dinner and breakfast was also fantastic. Really felt like a "homey" place with shelves of games, books, and movies to borrow as well as a freezer of ice cream for all guests.

Hotel is bit old. Private onsen which is good Good value. I booked for a 4person rooms but was required to pay triple the price per extra person due to didn’t select the correct person during book. Maybe is culture different but wasn’t happy with the price

No-ideal for visitor with kids & luggage

The staff are helpful and friendly. However, the hotel location on a hill without public transport which make it non-ideal for visitors with kids or luggage. Although tot is less then 2km from Gora station but the walk would take at least 20 min because of the steep slope.

The room was so smelly, dirty and old. It was so cold during our stay and the heater was not functioning. Not worth to stay and onsen room was dark and old. We waited so long for our turn for onsen. The breakfast was not good at all. Don’t stay here

Very traditional ryokan. It was quiet and very relaxing. Nice onsen on site. Staff was extremely friendly and helpful. Breakfast was traditional and very nice. Our room was spacious and a great experience.

No lo aprovechamos

Lamentablemente y debido al paso del tifón Hagibis, no hubo baños termales en toda la región debido a la rotura de la tubería de abastecimiento. La zona es muy bonita, toda verde, aunque todo es bastante caro. El hotel estilo japonés necesita de una remodelación total. La administradora muy agradable y facilitadora. Nos tocó bastante lluvia también. Habrá que intentar volver en otro momento.

The room that we reserved had a beautiful view of the mountain, with lots of lush and trees. The room, itself, was very traditional and we enjoyed that. We loved using the provided Yukata's but wished the typoon, that occurred the weekend prior, didn't disrupt the private onsen. It would have been nice to use them.

The location and surrounding of this establishment is not bad, but the place is not very well maintained. The entire place is run by one old Japanese lady: she does cleaning, reception, cooking (she speak English well, but don't expect lots of service and nobody will be there if u go there before 3pm) Room is relatively clean, but again not well maintained. There is no washroom inside the room, and there is NO WIFI. We choose half board, but we find that food from convenience store would have been a wiser choice. If you are first time to Japan, and you don't mind shared washroom and no wifi, it is an authentic experience.

宿のご夫婦は、とても良い方々でした。 食事も、美味しかったです。しかし、となりの部屋のお客さんが、夜遅くまでうるさくて、眠れなかったです。温泉は、濁り湯で気持ち良かったですし、駅からも近くて便利でした。値段ま高くないのでおススメです。

The spa in hotel is traditional and nice to feel Japanese culture and nature nearby. Hotel is old but clean and comfortable to stay, and the dinner is delicious. Thanks to the kindness of hotel owner this trip was happy.
