"The room was basic but functional. For the price we paid it was perfectly acceptable. We were told at check in that we might have to let the hot water run for a while before it came out hot but we didn't experience any problems at all. The AC unit was exceptionally efficient and quiet. Wifi was a bit flaky in our room but fine everywhere else. It was great eating our evening meal out on the historic balcony at the front of the hotel. Breakfast was really just a bonus at this price point. It was a very basic continental style breakfast with bread and spreads and a few cereals with a geyser for hot water (t-bags and instant coffee). I really don't understand some of the negative reviews we saw online. It's a historic building so things will be different to a modern motel. If I was staying in Hay again I wouldn't hesitate to book this place. We had a great night's sleep and were fully refreshed for a long drive the next day."
"Easy check in, friendly reception, room was clean and comfortable. Quiet. Nice walking track along the river which was great at the end of a days driving and before heading out the next morning before another a big day of driving. Stretches the legs out."
