"This property reminds me so much of the KY State lodges (where I am from), especially the Cumberland Falls resort. Built around the same time, had major fires at around the same time
, etc. Cloudcroft is absolutely beautiful, so much history to enjoy, along with the cooler weather. I absolutely loved this hotel, it’s beautiful, it’s old, the restaurant is amazing, and the staff is amazing. Friendly, helpful, this place is a treasure!"

"Not sure why this property has been rated as well as it has. Compared to most current hotels this place is a borderline dump that needs serious upgrades and repairs: tiles peeling away from the wall in the bathroom, seriously corroded bath and sink fixtures, slow sink drain, drab and beaten up exterior. The breakfast was minimal, parking was ok, no clock or phone in the room. The bench seats in the breakfast room were beaten up and sagging"
"The hotel itself was excellent!! Very clean and a very cozy cabin feel. But as a Lifetime Diamond Hilton member, I find the staff not as friendly as how the cabin would make you feel.
Breakfast was subpar. It says it opens at 07, and finally opened at 0710. The kitchen help was taking his good old time opening and getting things ready. And nothing written that says that you place your order for breakfast. Really? We sat there waiting for like a buffet style.
Also, they allow their guests to go to the dining room barefoot!! Isn’t that against OSHA, health standards?
Much as I like the hotel itself, will not be returning.
Would I recommend? If you’re a mediocre traveler, go for it."
"We were given SMOKING room which we did not reserve. We asked for extra pillows because the pillows were flat and small. There was burn marks on the carpet and the bed was lumpy with springs moving as we moved around. Day 3 of stay the ceiling in the bathroom started to leak badly. We were moved to another room and asked for NON SMOKING ROOM. This room was in better conditions but it still smelled like heavy smoke. The young girl at the desk was very helpful but the conditions of you rooms is lacking. Behind the door of the second room we moved to looked like it has been punched in on the inside. We do not plan to return."
