Houghton lake is one of my favorite places. There are state parts not too far away, lots of local diners with good food. And there is always something going on on the weekends. And he lake is always fun, good for boating and fishing.

The lake is huge and pretty! It is more on the shallow side with a lot of weeds. Great for paddleboarding but we didn't swim a lot just because personal preferences.

Houghton Lake is an awesome getaway destination. Not somewhere I could live all the time but enjoy my time when I go up there.
