The rooms and facilities seem outdated and would really benefit from a proper upgrade. One of the main issues was the noise — we could clearly hear flushing and plumbing from the room above, which was quite disruptive, especially at night. Parking was also misleading. "We had a great stay at Rum Doodle, a friendly welcome on arrival we were shown to our room. We stayed in Wish, which was clean, well equipped and we loved the quirky decor and nice village views. Great shower! The only minor issue we found was the 4-poster bed was quite creaky, and some noise from other rooms but that's just the nature of the building, and it was very quiet overnight so we slept well. "It's in a remote location which is nice if you want to get away from it all. Good value. The sat navigation took us down a very potholed road but the road on the other side was in better condition so just something to be aware of. Characterful hotel, particularly the foyer. The breakfast was ok, very filling. Service was a bit chaotic with no plates when we arrived so had to wait. Rooms were nice and clean. Staff were welcoming. The games room has seen better days. "

"It’s the perfect stay to stop just off the M6 when driving from Scotland to England. It’s a beautifully decorated pub, with lovely staff and excellent breakfast and dinner. This time our ferry was cancelled from Mull and so we had to change the booking at the last moment. They were understanding and there was no problem rolling over the booking until we could get off the island. We will be forever loyal to this wonderful stop just south of Penrith. "
