"The room was mostly clean. Andrew and Michelle were very warm and made us feel very at home. There are a lot of stairs at this property and it is important to know that before you book. The view from the room is lovely. the main road was quiet at night. The location is great for walking into the town centre. The breakfast was superb. Our only gripe was the TV was just tiny and not really watchable. The car park is small, but a great addition to the property. "

"The Old Colonial Hotel is conveniently sited next to the arch giving access to the promenade for the Grand Pier and Knightstone beach. Also within walking distance to town. The hotel itself could do with a bit of decoration in the bar, the bedroom was not too bad. There are a few flights of stairs to negotiate to get to the bedrooms, which was a bit of a struggle as my wife is disabled. The bathroom has a bath with a shower over, which is not a problem (unless you are disabled). A walk in shower could be useful. The bedroom was a nice size and a quite comfortable bed with views of the sea and pier. The staff were warm and friendly. It was nice to see the open mike evening for a bit of a sing song. Overall we had a nice couple of nights stay, but I would just mention, if you are disabled, beware there are a few stairs to negotiate."

"I stayed at Elm Tree in WSM for 10 nights. The owner welcomed me and upgraded me to a bigger room due to the length of my stay which was nice, I didn't spend a lot of time in the room but the bigger size was nice to have. The private bathroom was very small, I'm not a big person, showering was a challenge, even at the sink I bumped my head a few times on the shelf above the sink. I'm visiting from Canada but originally from England and I don't know if this is unusual but there were no facecloths, I asked for one and got a strange reaction, a what? I like to have a facecloth to wash my face and hands at times, Is that odd? The location was perfect for my needs, walking distance from everything, 3 minutes to the High Street (Warrens Bakery, best pasties ever) 5 minutes to the Pier, pretty much everything in WSM is walkable from here. I was told that housekeeping was there every day, but all I noticed was my garbage being emptied, which wasn't really needed. Towel changes every few days would have been nice, and fresh cups for coffee, though the kettle was not very clean inside! I wasn't driving but my brother had difficulty picking ne up, as there was only limited street parking and with Traffic Wardens around all the time he didn't want to leave his car unattended. Other than that is was a great place to stay comfortable clean bed, good wifi, television if you need one when visiting such a lovely town, street view from window. It worked for me, except the lack of a facecloth."

"Looks like it's been recently done up. Rooms were neat and clean. Beds were comfortable. Great access to beach and town. No shampoo/shower gel in the bathroom, though, so bring your own! "

"We have met various staff over the last 5 weeks and everyone has been friendly & helpful especially in the restaurant. We booked in for 2 nights over bank holiday .Room was pleasant no view and the one complaint to reception was about the pillows on the bed. Breakfast was very good and plentiful and the hotel is situated on the main beach road of Sand bay but no traffic noise. We will use the restaurant frequently over the summer as we now have our caravan on a nearby site but would book the hotel again if needed.Afternoon is especially good with coffee & fresh victoria sponge cake."

"Absolutely love this place from the moment of getting to the front door and being met by Sam. The home was so clean and organised. There is a lounge that you can eat your meals at as well. Sam explained about the door system. And then told me which room I was staying in. So impressed with the room. Felt very safe here and relaxed. Great experience would highly recommend. "
