"It is a simple ryokan which shows how it used to be. Very serene and quiet place with a small but beautiful onsen (hot pool and outside rockpool). Right there he walk to the Buddhist temple along the Kansii River starts. A most outstanding forest walk with many Buddhist features along the way. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and that 2 hour walk."

"Staff was wonderful! Helped with all our luggage and gave a comprehensive overview of the facilities and our amenities. Everyone was so friendly and welcoming. We reserved the private outdoor onsen and it was everything we wanted/needed to relax after five days in Tokyo. The dinner and breakfast was excellent! The pacing of the meals as well as the clearing of used dishes felt very relaxed and natural. We did not feel rushed at all. We will definitely come back in the future and stay multiple...

"For most people it’s a once in a lifetime experience as it was for us. Good food, the onsen was not so good, ceremonies, which due to our lacking Japanese we couldn’t understand. But all in all a great experience. It was rather cold in the temple. "
