Biggest complaint: room door has a light directly in front of it that does not turn off. And no blind to cover the window. Was extremely bright at night. VERY DISAPPOINTED

We went to spend my wife's 60 th birthday . I informed the hotel telephonically prior to my arrival .At check in I reminded them and the lady who was checking us in said that it was on their system.However , the hotel totally forgot that it was my wife's birthday on Sunday , 8 December . Not even a happy birthday wish from the hotel,That spoiled a otherwise pleasant stay.

Disappointing - not a 5 star experience

The only to thing going for this hotel is the decor of the rooms, which is really interesting and of high quality. Other than that, this isn't a five star hotel experience. The first room we were given felt more like a basement room as it was so dark. We found blood on one of our cushions, the shower didn't work, the outdoor pool area was in neglect - the pool wasn't clean, and wasn't cleaned during our stay. The airport transfer was nearly 1000 rand (we think it would 200 on Uber). When I asked for a bottle water at 2230I was told that the bar had closed so having some water wasn't possible until the morning (in the end, the receptionist found a bottle of water behind the reception desk). The spa is well done, but unfortunately the time we picked to go, was during load shedding, so the indoor pool and jacuzzi were tepid, and the steam room and sauna not possible to use. We understand the reasons for load shedding but would have appreciated if the hotel had told us in advance of the load shedding time, or even on arrival at the spa. Not after when we had changed, and ready to use the spa facilities. So all in all, disappointing experience and think some areas of the hotel need a bit more TLC.
