A Charming Guesthouse in Melville!

Corlien and Pierre were very hospitable and friendly hosts. They have an excellent staff who work hard to ensure one's comfort (kudos to Patrick, Pretty and Patience!). The breakfasts were delicious...the menu extensive. As a cat lover, the very lovable Cesar made the environment like home!

Friendly staff and great service

Overall my stay here was very pleasant. The staff were warm and welcoming and took extra care to arrange for a very early morning departure and even made sure that I had breakfast before I left. The room was spacious with separate bathroom and closet areas. My one complaint is that the room was quite chilly with no heat and my visit was in the winter. Electric blankets are provided for the bed at night but, the room itself was too cold to comfortably relax in during the evening. (I understand that central heat is not common in SA but, a few small space heaters available to guests who request them would have made my stay a 5/5.)

Wonderful stay!

We loved it. Everyone is very friendly, the breakfasts are excellent and it is close to shops and restaurants in Melville which is a great area, Also, Jacob, the driver and tour guide is affiliated with the guest house is great as well.

Très bon hôtel

Très sécurisé et dans un quartier assez sûr et calme, cet hôtel à la décoration simple et sobre est élégant. Les lits sont très grands et confortables, les chambres spacieuses et décorées avec bon goût. Le personnel est agréable, discret et sympathique. Le petit déjeuner est bon, copieux et d'assez bonne qualité : fruits frais, céréales, omelettes ou porridge...5 minutes à pieds suffisent à rejoindre la zone animée (bars, restaurants, commerces). Notre sdb était sombre et pas fermée par une porte mais par une fine cloison coulissante : peu d'intimité. Le jardin et la terrasse pourraient être plus agréables et accueillants avec de petites tables ou fauteuils (il y a une seule table avec des bancs au milieu du jardin, 2 fauteuils sur la terrasse et 2 transats dans le jardin; en cas de pluie, comme ce fut le cas pour nous, impossible de se retrouver entre amis pour discuter ailleurs que dans la salle à manger, à table, car il n'y a pas de salon).

Lovely place, warm staff

We had a lovely stay at Ginnegaap. The staff and owner were so nice and attentive to our needs, even when we asked for a cab arrangement after reception had closed. The room has everything you need, including a huge bed, a safe deposit box, a nice bathroom with amenities, a flat screen TV, an iron, and even an emergency button just in case. Breakfast was big and has a lot of options, and if you have to leave before breakfast time (like we did) they can prepare one for you the day before so you don't miss out on that as well. Overall, a wonderful place.

Quaint residence near hip area.

The owner and staff were very friendly. They helped organize a day tour of Johannesburg which is key for this city. Great breakfast, much more than we expected from a hotel in this price range. Room was modest but clean and had everything we needed. I would recommend this place as it gives you a chance to also explore the Melville neighborhood, which is a nice diverse area and close to everything.

Hotel é ok para 3 estrelas. Poderia estar melhor preservado. Nao possui chuveiro, apenas banheira. Achei muito inconveniente. As fotos do hotel são mehores que a realidade. Fiquei um pouco decepcionada.

Great place - like a family home!

We loved the place. It is like a big private house, nicely decorated, lovely staff and a great breakfast! The only negative points would be: Wifi is limited and then you have to pay (we watches one netflix and then the limit was reached) and the noise from rooms above. We arrived after a 10h flight and wanted to get a good nights sleep before heading to Kruger. Unfortunately we woke up at 2am and couldn't sleep for more than an hour as we heard people moving around in the room above us and dropping things on the floor. From about 4am a very loud house alarm sounded and wasn't switched off for at least 30 minutes. Apart from this the place was fantastic!

Comfortable stay. Tired decor. Goad service. Hospitable host. We stayed as part of tour. Decor needs to be upgraded and someone needs to look at risk with multiple electrical sockets. All in all host accommodating. Clean and comfortable if not at tad tired.

Amazing service in Ginnegaap, we didn't have any problem, everything was perfect. The breakfast was delicious. Ginnegaap is very close of the 7th street were you can find a lot of restaurants and places to buy souvenirs

This is a lovely guest house and everything is decorated beautifully. The room and bathroom is very attractive and comfortable. It is possible to walk a short distance to some nice restaurants. Breakfast on the verandah was terrific and of very good quality.

Rolig og fint hotell i trygt område

Vi ba om tidlig innsjekk og fikk kjapt svar på at det ikke var noe problem, og vi ble ikke belastet for frokosten vi fikk da vi ankom tidlig den formiddagen. Gjestehuset er i veldig god standard og har fine, store rom. Det eneste som trekker ned er dusjen og at det var ganske lytt i bygningen. Området er trygt og fint, og du finner alt du trenger i nærheten. Du får mye for pengene, de har veldig hyggelige ansatte og også en veldig fin hage. Vi anbefaler absolutt gjestehuset!

Friendly, secure and a great location!

This Bed & Breakfast is very good value for money. The rooms are comfortable and very clean. The staff is very willing to please the guests. The breakfast is lovely, and you can pretty much have breakfast "your way". The location is good for Melville, and there is a nice little Italian restaurant a couple of blocks away, walking distance. If you are a light sleeper, then request the double digit rooms. I had room 1 and while it's a nice room, it's a the front of the house, and thus, noisy. I will return to this B&B.

Levede ikke op til forventningerne fra billederne. Meget nedslidt! Fik ikke det værelse, vi havde betalt for. Havde booket en lejlighed med flere senge, men fik et dobbeltværelse med én seng og tekøkken.
