incredible luxury

Beautiful mansion, with stunning views over northern suburbs of Joburg. Suites are lovely, especially the front ones, with balcony and view- almost obscene luxury. Wonderful breakfast, wonderful service. Only 4 rooms, but we had the place to ourselves, so it was as though we were lords of the manor. Lovely area, very safe, very central for getting around Joburg. Certainly wouldn’t stay anywhere else!

What a wonderful, gorgeous place! We only spent one night but wish we could've stayed longer. Besides the beautiful grounds, which you can see in many pictures, the staff was wonderful. Everyone was attentive and made sure we were well looked after. We had all 3 meals at the hotel and each was delicious. The intimate setting (only 5 rooms) made us feel like we were staying at someone's house and therefore, felt extremely comfortable. We'll definitely be back.

Class & sophistication exudes here; exceptional!

The place was exceptional in every way. The hotel is absolutely flawless, and exudes class and sophistication. The views from every angle are magnificent and rooms are fantastic. The staff is friendly, accommodating and helpful with whatever needs you may have. Breakfast was served in your room, formal dining room or terrace which overlooks Johannesburg and it was scrumptious. Meals are freshly prepared and of the best quality. Dinner was was served with white glove service and everything we had was presented artistically and delicious. James, Suzy and Freeman went beyond the call of duty. You can’t get enough of the common areas, Gardens, atrium with an open roof. So much attention to detail in this hotel and you can eat off their floors. So so clean!!! We had two nights here and wish we were staying longer. Do not look any further as you won’t get anything better. It’s definitely a hidden gem in this area.

Amazing views and interior. Not many can boast and infinity pool in a stately home looking over a major city! Staff were excellent. Food was very good and not too expensive. Cannot fault anything about this hotel!

Das Hotel kann man nur weiterempfehlen. Das Hotel ist sehr schön eingerichtet mit vielen extravaganten Details. Der Eigentümer hat es selbst entworfen. Hochachtung. Luxus pur. Da würden wir auch gern noch einmal Hochzeit feiern.

What a boutique hotel is meant to be

After a week of golf and a week of safaris, this was a fantastic place to relax before heading home. The owner Mark made a great recommendation for dinner but the best dinner was the one we had the last night on the terrace near the pool overlooking the northern part of Joburg. Fantastic and unforgettable. This is exactly what a small boutique hotel is meant to be.

Superb service and stunning view

The staff was fabulously attentive and the entire atmosphere from the view to the decor was superb. I felt comfortable and looked after from the moment I booked until the moment I left. I look forward to returning to the Munro during my next visit to the city.

Very unique experience

There is no check-in at this hotel. You just arrive and they take you straight up to your room... which is awesome. The staff were friendly, the view is extremely beautiful. And even if the hotel is in a lesser known neighbourhood to tourists, its definitely worth it to try something new and different since the quality of the hotel is so excellent. The breakfast could use a bit of work, but everything else is great.
