"From the moment we arrived at Jungle Eco Lodge & Safari, we were made to feel completely at home. Kumari and her husband, Neshanta, went above and beyond to make our stay unforgettable. "An absolutely wonderful hotel, with a calm, serene atmosphere, that blends in beautifully with it's surroundings. Cinnamon Lodge is the antitheses of a generic, bland, modern hotel, which exudes a sense of unfussy sophistication. The Cinnamon Group's website does not do justice to the architecture or to how lovely the grounds are. The architect took inspiration from the ruins of nearby Ritigala temple (well worth a visit), and it's amazing how comfortably the buildings blend in with the vast grounds. The rooms are huge and nicely furnished, without being "glitzy". We stayed in a suite that was essentially a two story house, and comes with your own butler - in our case Lalith, who made our stay complete - reserving tables, remembering your favourite drink and generally anticipating your every need. The food was consistently excellent over our five night stay. The staff are all warm, charming and do their best to make your stay a memorable one. They are led by an excellent management team, who are visible, approachable and highly competent. Our stand-out memory is of the wildlife - not just at the nearby national parks, but within the hotel grounds. Incredible bird-life, monkeys, monitor lizards, and even an elephant beside the lake. This was all brought to life for us by the hotel's resident naturalist team (in particular Kintu), and we recommend you seek out their expertise. An oasis of calm, in the heart of the cultural triangle."

"Aara Wild near Sigiriya was the highlight of our whole Sri Lanka trip. From arrival, the warmth of the welcome set the tone – every member of staff, from housekeeping to guides to the kitchen team, was genuinely, unfailingly lovely. It’s rare to feel so looked after and so at ease at once. The activities were fantastic and varied: a sunset walk with incredible views, a relaxed afternoon tea, a chef’s dinner served poolside under the stars, and a hands-on cooking class. Each felt personal rather than a standard “resort activity.” We travelled with our two young children, and the way the team engaged with them was special – patient, warm and encouraging, and our kids left having formed real bonds with staff. Our 5 year old was in tears when we had to leave, and honestly I was close!! The wildlife was extraordinary right on the doorstep – elephants, lizards, eagles, even a water snake, all without going far. The biodiversity made every walk feel like a small safari. The natural pool was a wonderful centrepiece, and having a private pool at our room too meant we always had the choice of a sociable swim or quiet family time. And the food was genuinely fabulous throughout. Chef was brilliant and we feel ready to have a go at home with all his top tips! If I had to sum it up: Aara Wild isn’t just a beautiful place, it’s full of beautiful people. We’d go back in a heartbeat. Please book Aara!"

"We had a great stay at Hotel Sigiriya! The views of Sigiriya Rock were beautiful, and we really enjoyed the breakfast. Our room was on the smaller side, but it was comfortable enough for our stay. The pool looked lovely as well, although unfortunately we didn’t get a chance to use it. There were two disappointments during our stay. First, before arriving, I contacted the hotel management to request a simple birthday surprise—a decorated room with a “Happy Birthday” message and a small cake. The hotel acknowledged the request, and I even noticed it written in the corner of our check-in paperwork. Unfortunately, the request was overlooked and the surprise never happened. It was a missed opportunity to make an already wonderful stay truly special. Hopefully, they can follow through next time! The second disappointment was on our second day. The cleaning staff made an elephant out of towels and placed it on our bed. When we dismantled it to use the towels, we realized that they appeared to be our previously used towels. We found this quite concerning and unsanitary, especially since used towels had been arranged and placed directly on the bed. Despite these issues, we had a lovely overall stay, enjoyed the beautiful surroundings, and appreciated the friendly service. With a little more attention to these details, the hotel could make the experience truly exceptional. We would consider staying again and hope for an even better experience next time."
