"I have been to 26 countries and have stayed at many hotels. I must say that at Kaliwa, staff go out of the way to make sure the guests feel like home. Tanzanian people are super kind and honest, and this hotel has the best of the best. Specially Kami, thanks for all you did for us. We miss you already !"
Fun Retreat Resort, Hotel and Ayurveda Spa

"This resort is strangely wonderful. I mean that in the best way. It is a fun resort and if you have very young kids you may not leave. The pool is clean and refreshing.The food is cooked fresh for every meal( so sometimes when you order 4 different styles it can take a little while) but western , Indian or Tanzanian was all really tasty. All the pictures on the internet are real. ( apart from Swiss Cottage I couldn’t find that one) Bar is huge , so is the restaurant. Staff are very kind and helpful just remember to give them time to get a driver as they need to find someone they trust. The only down side is not there fault , and that it was quiet when we stayed. Plus the road outside was being reworked . Beer and food prices were all reasonable, we visited another resort and found out how good they were. So I do recommend it . I took my wife and two teenage girls and even though it was quiet we would all happily stay again."

"Very spa-like hotel. Beautiful rooms with a cottage like appearance.. The estate is so beautiful, you can take walks to admire the garden-like landscape. Dining room is beautiful also. Staff very friendly and helpful."

"With such a low daily cost, I was worried it would be minimal. But to my pleasant surprise, the room I was given was very modern looking. It had its own bathroom, and plugs for charging along with strong WiFi. Nice comfortable queen sized bed and a bunk bed. Deborah and her husband were very attentive hosts. They arranged transportation to the airport for me. The meals were low priced, tasty and plentiful. The compound has a basketball court as advertised. There were also fruit trees and flowers scattered about. I was there for a week to get over the flu and it was perfect. The one drawback was the loss of electricity every other day for a few hours, but if you keep your phone charged up, it is not an issue."

"The grounds and facilities are immaculate and the property is beautiful and has a lot of character-- very peaceful, with a river running by. I was in Arusha on business and did not want to stay in the city. My stay was perfect, except that I had trouble with the internet most days and in most locations on the property. For a vacation/adventure traveler that will be irrelevant. Having stayed in many places in and around Arusha and Usa River over the last 20 years, I can say that this was one of my favorites and by far the most well-maintained and peaceful. The staff were lovely!"
