"Highly recommend staying at Mvuvi if staying on the east side of the island! Staff was always attentive and made sure our stay was wonderful. Both restaurants were fantastic! It was easy to book all of our excursions through Mvuvi and made it super convenient. Overall, we had a fantastic stay."

Kiwengwa beach is not as crowded or touristy as some. There is some mud and weeds at low tide but the tides are not very low and the swimming at high tide is enjoyable. We loved the pier to walk out to a thatched bar where they hold parties at night

The beach is soft and white. Prison Island should be on the list - see and feed the giant tortoises is a must - 30-40 minute boat-ride from Stonetown.
