"Friendly, responsive staffs, beautiful newer property. We value our privacy and staff was very helpful in accommodating our request. Villa was very spacious and very well appointed, private pool was cherry on top. It has cleaning station for dive/water sport equipments as well as outdoor shower for rinsing, very handy. Ate at the Ocena Club across the street 3 times, the view, food and service were phenomenal. Absolutely loving the stay at Grand Windsock."
"We had a lovely stay as a family of 4 at Chogogo! It was our first time to Bonaire and we thoroughly enjoyed it. It is more of a laid back, less resort feel than all-inclusives in other islands we'd been to but we quite enjoyed that. We stayed in a 3 bedroom villa with a kitchen (almost full kitchen, there is no oven or microwave but we made do), dining area, living room, and a full bathroom in each bedroom. We really enjoyed the patio off the villa with ample seating and easy access to the lazy river. We rented a truck from the front desk at Chogogo, which proved to come in quite handy as there is no public transportation on the island. We took a taxi to Chogogo when we arrived and back to the airport when we left but other than that we drove the truck we rented and explored the island nearly daily. There is a dive shop on the resort compound and you can rent snorkeling and diving gear. We just snorkeled with our children and saw the prettiest fish we'd ever seen! We ate at one of the restaurants at Chogogo a couple of times, cooked a lot of meals and tried out different restaurants on the island. All in all it was an amazing trip and we can't wait to return!"
Van der Valk Plaza Beach & Dive Resort Bonaire - All Inclusive
8/10 Good
"The property was truly beautiful and had a wonderful view of the sunset. One of the best 3 meal buffets we have ever been! The room was brand new with very up to date everything. The staff were very pleasant especially all servers in the dining and bar areas. Would have liked to have more lighting in the bathroom and a way to shut off the lights in the closet and the toilet room.
Our only true problem in the resort was a lack of beach towels. Of the ten or so times we went to get the towels from the front they were out. This was especially troublesome when going off site. We spent three days without a clean beach towel. "
"I stayed five nights in late March and would book again. The location is genuinely unbeatable: the airport is a 10-minute walk, Te Amo Beach is equally close on foot and one of Bonaire's best spots for snorkeling at sunset, and the town centre is reachable in 25 to 30 minutes by walk. Free parking is always available, which is a plus if you rent a car or scooter.
Check-in was seamless. The hotel asked for my flight details in advance and had everything ready on arrival. The lobby makes a great first impression, open and airy with a relaxed atmosphere. Linen and towels were changed every third day and the room stayed spotless throughout. The AC worked perfectly, WiFi was fast and reliable, and there was plenty of wardrobe space. Noise was a non-issue: the area is quiet, and the occasional plane is barely noticeable given how few flights there are.
The restaurant The Dock is excellent, with good food at fair prices right next to the pool. Beach towels are available via a voucher system handed out at check-in, which works well.
The staff were genuinely helpful. They called ahead to check day-pass availability at resorts and arranged a scooter without any hassle. One tip: ask about the second pool at check-in. It sits right on the sea and is stunning, but nobody mentioned it to me and I only found out later.
One small thing was missing: a clothesline or drying rack, which is quite useful if you are snorkeling every day. Neither is a dealbreaker, but worth knowing"
"A perfect stay in Bonaire, from reception at the airport to the ride back to the airport. The resort really impresses with the location, the integration with the scenery, and a perfect combination of laidback luxury and attention to detail. Special thanks to all the staff; and especially Zac and Dennis from the DiveShop, for alerting us to the dangers of full-face snorkeling masks."
