"Great price and wonderful open air onsen! Rooms are very small and staff doesn't speak a very good English. Area is walkable for Samurai district, Geisha south district, Kenroku-en, and Omicho market"

"Our stay at Ryokan Karasawa was lovely! The space was clean and peaceful, and the hosts were incredibly helpful and made us feel right at home. The guide to the local buses and food was invaluable. The building does show its age a bit, but at such a great price and location it's impossible to complain. The futons were REALLY comfy here, too. I'd definitely stay again!"

"Loved the vibe. Staff were so attentive, rooms were lovely - also we used all the extras offered - isolation tank, sauna and hot tub/cold tub & massage - all were great! Breakfast was different but still good. Perfect location - close to gardens, fish market & great food options. Highly recommend!! "
