Terra Nostra Garden Hotel

"We booked a double room but were allocated a very small room with one of the smallest beds I’ve encountered in a hotel (see photo attached). The room did not appear to match the marketing photos, so it felt misleading to book one type of room and be given something quite different. After a poor night’s sleep, we complained and were moved to a larger room, which was much closer to what we had expected when booking. We also found the hotel restaurant disappointing, both at breakfast and dinner. However, we did enjoy the drinks and food in the bar area. The gym was another disappointment. It had only a couple of treadmills, dumbbells up to 10kg, and no bench to use them with, so it was very limited for a hotel at this price point. Overall, we did not feel the stay offered good value for money. While after-hours access to the gardens is a nice benefit, I would have preferred to stay elsewhere and visit the gardens during the day instead."

"We stayed one night in May 2026. We were welcomed warmly even though we arrived late at night due to a much delayed flight from Ponta Delgada. They upgraded us to a suite, which we were grateful for, after a long day of flying, and extended layovers in 4 airports, and getting lost while trying to find the hotel in the dark. The room was clean, and we enjoyed a peaceful night's rest and a standard complimentary breakfast the next morning."

"Very good welcome by Juan! Super view and delicious food at the restaurant! Attention to shower door that is not sealing 100%, making a water mess on the floor."

Grand Hotel Açores Atlântico
10/10 Excellent
"Our experience at this hotel was outstanding, thanks to the staff's kindness, professionalism, and dedication to excellence. Upon arrival, we were treated to a beautifully presented room with rose petals, fine wine, and exquisite desserts, setting the tone for an unforgettable stay. The hotel's restaurant offered exceptional service and exceptional food, further enhancing our already impressive experience. Thank you for making our anniversary so special ❤️"

Octant Ponta Delgada

"Nice hotel just off of the main road. Located across from where boats dock and cruise ships come into harbor. About a 15 minute walk to the town center. Convenient if you are seeing the island by a car. Self parking available and very convenient. Great breakfast. Go early for a window seat. Great bar on the 7th floor with views of the ocean. I skipped the spa as there is a capacity limit and they suggest you make a reservation. Hotel staff is pleasant and helpful. Room was nice. Comfy bed. Room darkening shades. My only negative: the walls are a little too thin. Able to hear noises pretty easily. Otherwise a nice stay."

VIP Executive Azores Hotel
6/10 Okay
"A little disappointed with the hotel. Not sure about it's four star rating. The lobby looks spectacular but doesn't hold up to closer inspection. The leather in the armchairs is splitting and needs replacing, and the chairs in the bar are dirty at the top where people handle them. In my room there was a lot of scuffing to the furniture and the fridge needed a good clean in the trays on the door. I reported a curtain partially off it's rail three times and it wasn't fixed. The rooms overall are somewhat dated and plain. The hotel exterior is wearing as well. The coating on the fascia above the lobby is peeling off. Overall the hotel needs a bit of love and money invested in maintainance. I can't fault the staff. Friendly and helpful at all times. And the cleanliness was generally very good apart from that fridge door. The location is a bit out of the centre but it's not too bad. There's a supermarket opposite if you fancy stocking up on packed lunches for trail walking at reasonable, not tourist, prices. My trip was marred by unusually poor weather for the tine of year, but still found plenty to do. Do have a plan b when you come. The Atlantic is it's own boss."
